THE KING’S CHAMBER
Every castle in Touraine kept a beautiful and comfortable chamber reserved for the sovereign. King Francis I is said to have stayed in this chamber following his hunt in the Loire Valley.
Luminosity and colours characterise this Royal Chamber, so typical of the Loire Valley: chestnut beams in sensational 16th century colours, furniture, paintings and rare tapestries dating from the 16th and 17th centuries…
THE KING’S CHAMBER
Every castle in Touraine kept a beautiful and comfortable chamber reserved for the sovereign. King Francis I is said to have stayed in this chamber following his hunt in the Loire Valley.

Renovated and refurbished during the 19th century, the château’s kitchen was used until 1977, the date the last chef left the establishment. 19th century stove with a plate warmer, mini oven, ice cream maker, moulds for cheese make a collection of more than 150 copper saucepans and items from this period… The château’s kitchen is ready to re-start its service!

THE DINING ROOM
This dining room is decorated with beams painted in grey, a trend that appeared after the death of King Henry III of France, when his wife Louise of Lorraine decided to have everything in her chamber black as a sign of mourning.
From 9th February to 11th November 2019, the Parisian Company « Au Bain Marie » will be exhibiting its fine china and tableware in the dining room of the Château of Montpoupon as a way to introduce you to the art of French table decoration with fine chinaware, thanks to their collections “Vegetable garden” and “Animals”.
THE DINING ROOM
