The Association des Châteaux de la Loire, previously the association Route Historique des Dames de Touraine, created in 1975 by Solange de La Motte Saint-Pierre, the former owner of Montpoupon, with the purpose of grouping historical sites with a common past together.

In 2009, under the Presidency of Amaury de Louvencourt, the association took the decision to merge with the new association of the Châteaux de la Loire, known previously as “The Road of the Valley of the Kings.”
